Privacy

Signalfire collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies, no servers contacted at runtime. All settings (language, custom signals, red-night mode) are stored only in your browser's local storage on this device. GPS coordinates, when you request them, stay on your device — they are shown to you and copied to your clipboard only if you tap Copy or Share. We do not transmit them anywhere.

Signal standards & sources

SOS timing: ITU-R M.1677-1. Alpine distress signal: UIAA / ICAR — 6 signals per minute. Ground-to-air codes V (need assistance) and X (need medical help): ICAO Annex 12, Search and Rescue. Rescue whistle 3-blast convention: international wilderness standard.

Signalfire is a supplemental signaling aid, not a substitute for a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB), satellite messenger (e.g. Garmin inReach), VHF radio, or emergency phone services (112 / 911). Battery, screen brightness, audio level, and visibility conditions all affect effectiveness. The authors accept no liability for any outcome arising from use of this tool.
